You know the health benefits of growing your own organic garden, that is why you put the time and effort into it. Use the great information provided in this article to build upon your own current knowledge and hopefully, learn something new to maximize the benefits both for you and everyone you know.

Sod should be laid correctly. Before you lay the sod, the soil has to be prepared. Eradicate any weeds and work the soil until it is very fine. Compress the soil lightly yet firmly, and make certain it’s flat. The soil should be adequately moistened. Avoid laying your sod in straight rows with all of the seams lining up. Instead, stagger the rows for a more pleasing visual effect. Pat your sod to form an even and flat surface, fill any gaps with some soil. Your sod should be watered everyday for at least two weeks, then it will root itself and walk on it.

Select perennials to reduce the amount of care your garden requires. Plants that return year after year usually require only a modicum of weeding and pruning. Edible perennials, such as asparagus, rhubarb, and sorrel, can provide an excellent salad addition for your household without causing too much work for you.

When removing and replanting perennials, it is important to replenish the soil as well. If you remove a large number of perennials, and then replant them without adding additional compost and soil, the bed will be lower, reducing drainage and air circulation. Also, the compost will replace nutrients that have been used up by previous growing seasons.

If this is your first time planting a garden, you should purchase seeds and plant them in seed trays to allow them to grow some before planting them outside. By doing this, your plant will be stronger and much more likely to survive once you plant it in the soil outside.

Always read the product label before using garden chemicals and store the chemicals in a safe place out of the reach of children and pets. Garden chemicals like pesticides and fertilizers can be very toxic to humans, so make sure you are aware of any extra precautions you need to take when using, storing and disposing of the products.

These tips are intended to help you become an excellent organic gardener. This is a field of endeavor where a wealth of useful information exists, and you have to delve into this knowledge. If you keep this information in mind, you should be able to grow a great organic garden in no time.
