Dog training builds a healthy relationship with you and your pet. Training can be stressful at times, but learning as much as you can beforehand can be extremely helpful. Arm yourself with tips from this guide and you will surely be able to train your dog the right way.

When crate training a new puppy or dog, help the dog realize that the crate is its home. During meal time, place their food in the crate while allowing the door to remain open as they eat. This creates a positive association between good food and their new crate.

Make sure you remain controlled when rewarding your dog. When your dog responds to a command in the right way, you should reward this behavior when he is calm. Don’t get too excited, though, as your excitement may cause them to break their concentration. Maintain a calm atmosphere and provide an appropriate reward.

As you begin training your dog, create a verbal cue that allows your pet to understand the exact moment that they correctly complete your command. If you do not have a treat you can reward your dog with, pet it and talk to it in a soft voice until you find a treat.

Training your pet to roll over very easy. Just remember to have treats in hand. First, make sure the dog is in a laying position. The next step is to hold a treat close to the floor by the dog’s head then continue to move the treat over his head until you reach the other side. They’ll follow your treat with their nose which will cause them to roll over. Upon seeing him roll over, issue the command. You can then repeat the command to the point where he rolls over without the added incentive of a treat. Be patient with him when you are teaching this because once he learns it, he can be quite the show-off amongst your friends.

Begin the dog training process with a simple task. This will give them instant success and serve as a building block for your training regimen. In doing so, you will see more consistent and positive results.

It is imperative that you have a pet that will obey your commands. The article you’ve just read has provided some excellent advice to utilize when training your dog. Dog training requires time and patience, and you should not give up just because your puppy did not obey you when you gave him a command the first time. Good obedience is going to take repetition over time, so make certain that you keep expanding your knowledge in this area for true success.
