There are world religions that revere animals, from the Hindu reverence for cows to the ancient Egyptians who considered cats to be royalty. Although this is true, some people consider animals to be nothing more than a food source. Could pet reincarnation be a possibility or not.
African people have a belief in animal reincarnation. They do not think death is the end for people or animals. It is their belief that when someone dies they continue to live in an invisible space right here on earth. At some point they are reborn.
The ancient Egyptians prepared for the next life by constructing pyramids filled with all the necessities to live that next life. Buddhists have a concept of soul that has people returning to earth in a process called rebirth.
The Zulu people in Africa believe a soul is born into an insect or rodent. It moves up the line after each death, reincarnating into a higher life form until finally, it enters a human baby. Following that, there are many additional lives to be lived.
Karmic rebirth is the belief of Hindu and Buddhist religions. Thus, if someone is good when he dies he is reborn into another human. If he is bad, he can be reborn in the form of an animal. This is not exactly pet rebirth, but is similar.
A pet dog or cat inspires love in its owner. People are devoted to pets almost as much a children. There are pet loss support groups for owners who lose a dog or cat. Some of the members tell about a pet they believe to be reborn after a previous pet died.
It is the belief of the Inuit people that each animal, pet or otherwise, has a soul. When they kill an animal for food, they perform rituals to move the soul of that animal into the next incarnation. They believe that the animal will be reborn as another animal, never progressing to a human form.
The Native American tribes thought of animals as having spirits that connected them to the great Creator. Animals are guardians of man. The early hunters would stop to offer a prayer in which they thanked the animal for offering its life for the tribal members.
Men and dogs grow attached to each other in a special way. A dog loves his owner and never judges him. If a loved dog could be returned, the owner would be happy. There are more people in the world who believe in reincarnation and subsequent lives than do not.
Pet reincarnation is no less a possibility than human reincarnation. Every culture has its own set of beliefs. If it comforts the pet owner who has lost their dog or cat, why scoff at it. It is not something anyone can either prove or disprove and a great many people believe that it is real.
