What Are Digital Stamps

What Are Digital Stamps

Digital stamps, what are they?

A digital stamp also known as a “Digi stamp” is line art that you download and print from your computer to make handmade cards and paper crafts. You will find digital stamps as jpeg files available as instant downloads. Digital stamps are very inexpensive and companies often give out freebies.

Resizing digital stamps.

Digital stamps can be manipulated and resized using programs like Microsoft word and Photoshop. This makes digital stamps very appealing. You may be asking yourself what is the difference between the two types of stamps. When purchasing rubber stamps, you are getting a physical product. You get the stamp with the image embedded in the rubber. With digital stamps, you are not buying a physical product. You are purchasing the image only. Then you can print the image out, or just save it to your computer.

How to color a digital stamp.

You can color a digital stamp with copic, pro or any markers you like. Some people use colored pencils and even crayons. One good tip is to heat set your digital stamp after you print it out to prevent your ink and markers from smearing together. You can embellish you designs with many products such as glitter pens or stickles which is like a puff paint. Many card makers prefer shading with copic markers and you can even take classes to learn how.

How are digital stamps used?

After you print out your digital stamp you can create cards and paper crafts in two popular ways. The first one is to color your image and then cut around the image leaving a thin white boarder. The second way is to color the image and then cut the digi in the shape of a rectangle or circle which creates a nice frame. Then you can use colored/embossed card stock and patterned paper to stick your digital stamp on, add a cute sentiment like “happy birthday” and you have just created a digi stamp card.
