Writing childrens poems can be very interesting if one has the right tips to do so. Children enjoy different things as opposed to adults. Therefore their poem must also be written in a different way.

Before starting to write any poem for kids, any intending writer must choose the topic to write about properly. The topic should be interesting and entertaining to them. If you chose a wrong topic, then the poem will not make any sense to them. Some of the topics which one should consider may include the following. A topic about school, a topic about animals, a topic on monsters, a topic about magic and a topic about funny characters.

It is worth noting that boy child have a different interest as opposed to the one for the girl child. The poet should also take note of this fact. The topic may be on animals, monsters, school, farming, magic stories or any other funny thing. The poem should be written in a very simple language which kids can understand.

Since it is being written for kids, they should be in a position to understand the language as used. Therefore bottom line, it should be as simple as possible. The other guideline to consider is being funny and making it more interesting. Children get excited with funny things, therefore the writer must ensure that it is really funny. Kids need not to be taught any moral using poems. They view poems as a way of entertainment. Therefore it should just entertain them and make them laugh. The writer should not writer should not try to write in a figurative language or with some hidden meaning. It should just be plain and clear.

Tongue-twisters are also interesting to children as opposed to adults. The writer therefore should strive to use them more in the poem. This will also attract their attention. Repeating some of the lines and verses several times is also necessary as it makes it easier for the kids to read and or even to write. Alliteration also helps in making it more interesting, therefore the writer should also consider using them. The other guideline worth taking into consideration is the use or rhymes as well as use of rhythms.

These rhymes and rhythms also make the letter to be attracted to the kids. Though one should not force rhythms which are not applicable to the poem however much they make the poem to be interesting. While writing, one should not trouble himself or herself with the issue of editing the poem while still writing. Children things are always made to involve them in all aspects.

The other thing which kids like is the tongue-twisters. Therefore any poem with a lot of tongue-twisters will go down well with the kids. Use of alliteration is also important while writing for the kids. This makes the poem to be more interesting and understandable to them. The other tip to consider is the use of rhythm and rhymes. Being able to write rhythm and rhymes which is understandable to the kids also make one to be a great poet for kids. This is because they kids also like rhymes and rhythms which make them to like reading the poem again and again.

An interactive poem also works best for the kids. Kids like to take part actively in what they are doing. Therefore the poem should be made in a way that it includes the interaction of the kids while it is being narrated to them. Children do not like those who talk bad about them. Or those who want to depict them as being naive in what they are doing. The poet should therefore ensure that in his or her poem, children are not patronized or looked down upon. One should also consider reading and listening to other poems by the experts who have written childrens poems previously. This will give them an insight of what they need to do, and how they should do it.
