Finding The Right Allergy Bedding

Finding The Right Allergy Bedding

By Michael Dennis

For most people getting into bed is time to relax. Sleep is important and if you do not get enough sleep it can lead to long term health problems. However for people who suffer from allergies it can be very difficult for them to relax and part of the problem is that they do not have the right allergy bedding.

The first thing to do when you know you have allergies is to replace the bedding you currently have. If you suspect it has dust mites in it any pillows or bed linen should be replaced immediately. If you have bed linen that is over two years old then you should replace them anyway.

One of the big problems is that bedding often attracts dust mites. These are especially bad for causing allergy flare ups. Therefore you want to reduce their presence as much as possible and remove as many of their breeding grounds as much as possible so that you can improve your sleep experience.

Generally synthetic materials are best for this. Because they are not made from natural fibres they do not tend to agitate as much. Therefore if you need to get a new pillow or mattress then you should look for synthetic materials rather than cotton in order to reduce the risk of a reaction.

Another way to reduce the risk of exposure to allergens is to use casings that trap dust mites. Ideally you want a fabric that has a pore size of less than 10 microns. The reason this is important is that 10 microns is the average size of a dust mite and so this will prevent them getting in.

There are a number of places you can buy anti allergy products from including high street stores and websites. You have to check carefully to be sure they will be effective. For example you want to avoid any chemicals like flame retardants that could potentially worsen symptoms. Labels should clearly indicate this and make it easier for you to choose something that is appropriate for you.

There are a number of different products available online. Remember to search specifically for products that have been designed for people who have allergies. This will make it easier to compare what is available and ensure that what you are buying is appropriate for your needs. It is also a good idea to talk with other people online who have had problems to get feedback from them and ask what they would recommend that has worked for them.

In short allergy bedding is about looking at all aspects. You need to keep alert both in terms of cleaning and replacing the bedding on a regular basis. This will then make it easier to reduce the risk of people suffering allergic reactions and make it easier for them to relax. Look online for suitable products, customer feedback and more advice on how to ensure you get the right products to suit your needs.
