Selecting Faux Wood Window Blinds For Your Home

Faux wood window blinds are one of the best methods of applying effective window treatments to a home. They can be purchased at a reasonable price, are easy to install and maintain, and are available in colors and shades that will match an entire home. They work equally well in bedrooms, living areas, kitchens, and baths.

Examine the areas that the blinds will be installed in. Consider what they should be coordinated with - it could be the carpet, wall colors, furniture, baseboards, or even a focal painting. There are so many colors available to the consumer, including white, cream, natural, oak, sand and so many more. Remember, the blinds will also be seen from outside the house and the colors chosen will also have to blend in with the exterior of the building.

These products can be purchased in standard lengths and widths and special ordered for odd sized openings. Any product, from a large picture window to a tiny bathroom square, can be made to fit your own personal specifications. Some can even be cut to size on the spot for your decorating convenience.

Pets will find it difficult to bend, scratch or destroy these treatments. The treatments are very sturdy and indestructible and excellent for families with small and very active children. In an area of your home that receives large amounts of sun, they can actually help save on your air conditioning bill by keeping the sun out during the hot summer months.

Most are extremely easy and inexpensive to clean. Mild soap and water can be used for dust, dirt and light stains. They are an excellent addition to homes in areas with high humidity as they are moisture proof, can withstand high temperatures and will not splinter, fade or warp. If you have a lake shore cabin or seaside cottage, these would be a perfect addition.

Probably the biggest advantage of opting for these products instead of real wood treatments is the cost. These options are so much less expensive, sometimes as much as $100 to $200 less per larger blinds. If you are on a tight budget and not totally set on the real thing, they may be your best choice.

Styles are available in a variety of textures such as a wood grain or an embossed motif if so desired. Add interest to the treatments by adding cornices, drapes, or valances after installing. Sometimes leaving them plain can be a best option as they are very attractive and allow specific amounts of sunlight in at the homeowner’s discretion.

Shutter styles are also an option. They can open wide to allow large amounts of light into a room and so outside views can be seen when desired. They are much more heavy-duty and can provide more protection in the case of a hurricane or tornado.

Faux wood window blinds will be a welcome addition to any house. The very simplicity and ease of choosing and installing these treatments will add instant charm to living quarters or home office. And don’t forget how inviting they will make a house look from the outside.
